Rainscreen KPS has been at the forefront of Rainscreen panel system design for over 20 years. Developed initially in response to our severe Pacific Northwest climate, KPS Rainscreen systems have since been successfully protecting buildings in the most challenging environments throughout North America. The walls of buildings are subjected to not only direct water penetration, but also fluctuating air pressure differentials. Suction and air leakage into wall assemblies can transport significant amounts of moisture. Rainscreen wall panel systems introduce an air-space behind the finished panel surface. This air-space is vented and weeped to promote a dry wall. For true Pressure Equalized Rainscreen, this cavity must be compartmentalized and enough volume of exterior air must be allowed to circulate through it to eliminate the pressure differentials that can draw moisture towards the inner wall assembly. Wall systems that achieve instant pressure equalization must be properly vented. As the ventilation opening area is increased, the period of time required for the cavity to achieve pressure equalization decreases. KPS uses proprietary Rainscreen simulation software to determine the ventilation area needed given the specific requirements of each project. Our metal panel systems have also passed AAMA Rainscreen evaluation tests that demonstrate the superb level to which they achieve pressure equalization. |
