Job Description

At Keith Panel Systems, our Estimators fulfill a very important role for the company. Estimators are responsible for understanding the products and systems that we offer, evaluating bid specifications & architectural drawings, and ensuring that we are well prepared to produce properly formatted quotations. Estimators must perform accurate and detailed quantity take-offs, create itemized cost spreadsheets, and work closely with KPS Project Managers to successfully attain trade contracts. Estimators must establish a positive rapport with office staff and also with customers to foster positive relationships.

One of the most important business strategies at KPS is to be proactive. To be successful, our Estimators do not take anything for granted. They should strive to find creative methods to achieve success.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Receive bid invitations and manage time effectively to meet bid due dates

· Ensure that all necessary tender documents (drawings, specifications, etc…) are filed as required

· Have a strong understanding of the scope of work that KPS pursues

· Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask questions for clarification if necessary

· Review tender documents with Project Management team and highlight any items of concern

· Submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to customers for scope or approach clarifications

· Include value-engineering ideas with our quotations

· Show creativity and resourcefulness in preparing estimates to gain competitive advantage

· Prepare detailed quantity take-offs

· Create itemized cost spreadsheets

· Prepare quotation documents

· Include value engineering ideas with quotations

· Submit 100% of quotations and budgets by the bid due date

· Consistently follow up on submitted quotations and budgets with client

· Develop rapport with Developers, General Contractors, Architects, and Building Envelope Consultants

· Communicate in a manner that builds long-term positive relationships

· Build strong relationships with other departments at KPS, including project management, business development, purchasing, accounting, reception, and shop & field staff

Requirements

· Have a strong familiarity with performing quantity take-offs in the architectural/building industry· Able to review and manage drawings in AutoCAD format

· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel

· Ability to quickly learn the use of new estimating software programs

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining an organized work flow.

· Able to work well with others in person, via e-mail, in online meetings, and on the phone

· Professional and polished in appearance and speech

· Be self-motivated & punctual

Job Description

  • Install architectural sheet metal applications, including steel roofing and wall finishes, composite aluminium wall finishes, composite aluminium wall panels and custom zinc or copper applications
  • Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites, using shears, hammers, or punches
  • Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment
  • Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes
  • Drill and punch holes in metal, for screws, bolts, and rivets
  • Maneuver units into position for installation, and anchor the units
  • Secure metal roof panels in place, and interlock and fasten grooved panel edges
  • Fasten seams or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components to repair sheet metal items
  • Provide training and support to more junior level workers

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of commercial cladding experience
  • Journeyman/woman certificate or equivalent
  • Completion of secondary school diploma or equivalent is preferred

We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/ Technologist to join our team! The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in CAD drafting and a background in building construction or related education.

Job Description

We are seeking motivated team players with a strong work ethic for positions in our packaging and crating department. The successful applicant will be packaging fabricated panel systems, building skids and crating products for local delivery and export. This position is full time (Monday – Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm) and located in our new facility in Burnaby. An excellent compensation package is offered starting at $22/Hr. with extended health & dental benefits (after 3 months).

Requirements

  • No previous experience required, but an eagerness to learn, work hard and take pride in the work you do is a must.
  • Rough carpentry / woodworking experience is an asset.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Able to meet and maintain deadlines.
  • Able to pack all components securely for damage protection.
  • Conscientious, detail oriented and self starter.
  • Must have CSA approved steel toed shoes.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
