Overview

Known for its resistance to corrosion, stainless steel is a favourite for the low maintenance and durability of its unpainted finishes. Their lustre will last the life of the building. Today, a variety of specialty stainless steel finishes are available, including colourized finishes, giving architects more flexibility to achieve their design intent. Helpful tip: architectural brushed finish No. 4 is popular in specifications, but this finish can lead to less than desirable visual results after installation. For stainless steel finish specifications, KPS recommends a ‘bead blasted’ or ‘vibration’ finish.
